Tantrum 1

I have always thought about the statement "It is better to burn out than fade away." While I do see some of the obvious distinctions between the two alternatives, I also see a lot of similarities. To me the similarities outweigh the differences greatly. I have always thought burning out would be the way to go. No matter the vice, why not allow whatever is burning you out continue to do so. But doesn't that in itself lead to isolation. Isolating oneself is nearly the same as fading away.

No matter the similarities, I would like to burn out. I'd like to spend my days being as reckless and carefree as I choose. If I want to take drugs, which is something I do partake in to a degree, then I am going to take drugs. Most recreational drugs can be habit forming which can lead to addiction. I know that, and you know that. It's what you do with your addiction to substances that really determine the person you are. Don't be an asshole. That's sage advice, but it's not always easy to follow. From my understanding, addiction can sometimes make people do things that they would not have done prior to developing their addiction. It is upsetting, but it is their choice. We all have choices, and like it or not, there are consequences, both positive and negative for every action one takes. I for one am a light recreational drug user, but if any of my vices were to become an addiction for me, I'd go with it. I see the world for what it is. It's a dark, gloomy, unapologetic oblate spheroid floating in an infinite universe. Our world is completely irrelevant in comparison to the vastness of our eternal surroundings.

The long and short of these incomprehensible words is that our time is short. The world and the universe will continue on long after we have passed. I choose the path of self-destruction. While it's only moderate, my sober thoughts scare me more than addiction. I don't see any reason to abide by established constructs as I am what I would like to think is a free person. No one person is 100% free, no matter how much they feel they are. There are certain things we require as living beings in order to survive, and being held by these necessities further enslaves us. My suggestion, and take it for what it is worth coming from a faceless person typing gibberish on a blog (oh the hypocrisy). I am no-one; you are no-one. So if you and I are both no-one, then we should be free to make the decisions we want on a daily basis. Me, I need a mind altering substance to dull the pessimistic, suicidal, and narcissistic thoughts I have. Please, make up your own mind. Take consequences in to consideration, but don't let then dictate everything unless a consequence from your actions become harmful to another person... especially those you like/love. Again, don't be an asshole. Burn out or fade away. Nobody will truly care. The choice is yours and yours alone.
